Leapin' Lizards

			copyright@1995 Charles R. Johnson

I'll have two of those giant green
	Lizard eggs . . . par boiled. . .

	until the virulent steamy jism
	inside explodes into scalding
	fountains of foamin' froth.

Careful while yer hatchin' tem babys
or yah could lose yer jewels under
a rainbow steam stream of joyful juice

The reptile beat his lids together once
as though time had stopped . . .
he pulled his tongue in and out twice
	to show his true color
He knew he was watched through
	  half-open slit eyes . . .
	    The Brother of Lizards . . .
Will ya fetch me my vapors
	  from the Pleistocene?
	I gottum trapped right here
	in this bottle of petroleum.

	The reptile leaped forth to
	capture his fancy
A moist fragment from the center
	of the earth
A mote of life frozen for an
	eon
and served up for a neon
